Denis Villeneuve, the visionary behind Dune: Part Two, has engaged in a playful banter with Marvel Studios over the escalating competition for the most coveted popcorn buckets. With his trademark wit, Villeneuve has acknowledged Ryan Reynolds' attempts to spark a friendly rivalry through a contest. Despite Marvel's efforts, Villeneuve remains unyielding in his preference for the Dune: Part Two bucket.

In a recent interview with eTalk CTV, Villeneuve responded with good-natured humor to the news of Wolverine's latest bucket endeavor for the MCU's newest blockbuster. He jokingly dismissed the possibility of it surpassing the original, asserting that it wouldn't be better than or as good as the originals.

They are jealous of our bucket, and they are doing their best to try and bring something horrific into the world. But, the Dune bucket is unmatchable, Villeneuve quipped. He expressed amusement at Deadpool and Wolverine's attempts to emulate the success of the Dune: Part Two bucket.

However, Villeneuve emphasized the unique status of the Dune bucket, crediting it with an instant meme status that remains unmatched. I'm not saying I don't like the bucket. I'm just saying it was difficult to beat the Dune bucket. It was like one of a kind, he explained, before reiterating its singularity.

The recent surge in popularity of collectibles has extended to various demographics, encompassing figures, video games, board games, toys, and comic books. This trend has prompted major cinema chains to embrace the phenomenon.

The viral sensation surrounding the Dune: Part Two popcorn bucket propelled it to widespread acclaim, resulting in a significant sales surge. This unexpected success has led AMC Theater Chief Content Officer Elizabeth Frank to reconsider their approach to food and beverage offerings during movie screenings. We would have never imagined the Dune thing, Frank admitted. We would have never created it knowing it would be celebrated or mocked.

Frank further noted the diverse reactions among fans, with some embracing the collectible aspect while others prioritize specific cinematic experiences. These collectibles, akin to concert t-shirts, enhance the movie-going experience by adding tangible mementos and fostering a sense of community. It's a material part of our food and beverage business, but it's not the majority of it. It also makes the movies more fun, Frank added.

Despite Marvel Studios' valiant attempt to challenge the supremacy of the Dune: Part Two bucket with their Wolverine bucket, Villeneuve remains unyielding in his conviction. The allure of collectibles continues to flourish and transform, elevating the movie-going experience for enthusiasts worldwide.
