Tragic Toll of Delhi's Downpours: Five Lives Lost to Drowning

In the wake of incessant rainfall that has inundated Delhi, five individuals, ranging from an elderly man to young children, have tragically lost their lives due to drowning.

Elderly Man Succumbs to Flooded Underpass

A 60-year-old man, identified as Digvijay Kumar Chaudhary, met his demise in a flooded underpass in Delhi's Okhla area. The underpass had been submerged for over 24 hours due to relentless rainfall.

According to preliminary investigations, Chaudhary attempted to navigate the flooded underpass on his TVS Scooty when he encountered difficulties. His unconscious body was recovered and rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Two Boys Drown in Flooded Underpass

In another heart-wrenching incident, two young boys drowned in a waterlogged section of an underpass in outer north Delhi's Samaypur Badli area. The underpass near the Siraspur metro station was inundated with approximately 2.5 to 3 feet of water.

Upon receiving a distress call around 2:25 pm, police promptly dispatched a team to the scene. With the assistance of the fire brigade, a search operation was conducted, resulting in the recovery of the boys' bodies.

Initial investigations suggest that the boys may have drowned while taking a bath in the flooded underpass. Their bodies have been sent for postmortem examination.

Two Boys Perish in Rainwater-Filled Ditch

Tragedy also struck in northeast Delhi, where two boys, aged 8 and 10, drowned while playing in a rainwater-filled ditch. The incident occurred near Pusta No. 5 in the New Usmanpur area, where a five-foot-deep ditch had accumulated water due to the heavy rainfall.

After receiving reports of the incident, police迅速赶到了现场,将男孩们救出,但他们在被送往医院后被宣布死亡。

Part-Time Laborer Drowns in Flooded Underpass

Another fatality occurred in northwest Delhi's Shalimar Bagh area, where a man in his late 20s drowned in a flooded underpass. The deceased, yet to be identified, was reportedly a part-time laborer at Azadpur Mandi.

Monsoon Fury Batters Delhi

The monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in Delhi, with the city experiencing its highest single-day rainfall for June in 88 years. The relentless downpour has flooded streets, leaving commuters stranded and disrupting daily life.

The tragic loss of these five individuals underscores the dangers posed by heavy rainfall and the need for caution during such weather conditions.
