President Zardari Appoints Rana Sanaullah as PM's Political Advisor

President Asif Ali Zardari has appointed Rana Sanaullah, the Punjab President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), as the Prime Minister's advisor on political and public affairs. This decision was made under Article 93(1) of the Constitution and follows the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Sanaullah will assume the rank of a federal minister.

Sanaullah's Role and Background

Sanaullah played a key role in PML-N's electoral campaign for the February 8 general polls. However, he was defeated in NA-100's (Faisalabad-VI) contest by PTI-backed candidate Nisar Jutt. Sanaullah previously served as the interior minister in the Pakistan Democratic Movement-led government.

Appointment Comes Amidst Recent Political Developments

This development occurs after the PML-N government's unexpected appointment of Ishaq Dar as the deputy prime minister. Dar is a trusted associate of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and assumed the role without significant opposition from allies.

Sanaullah Expresses Gratitude

Speaking on Geo News' program 'Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath,' Sanaullah expressed his gratitude for the appointment and stated that he would work diligently in his new role. He emphasized his commitment to serving the nation and supporting the Prime Minister's vision.
