During the Anime Central 2024 convention in Chicago, Illinois, renowned animation studio Kinema Citrus unveiled two original anime projects: Goodbye, Lara and Ninja Skooler.
Goodbye, Lara: A Modern Retelling of The Little Mermaid
Goodbye, Lara presents a captivating reimagining of the beloved classic fairy tale The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. Set in contemporary Japan, the story follows a mermaid's journey as she ventures into the human world.
The project is helmed by director Takushi Koide, renowned for his acclaimed works such as Made in Abyss. While a promotional video has been released, details regarding the cast and release date remain undisclosed.
Synopsis:
A mermaid harbors an unyielding desire to experience human love, a forbidden wish that ultimately results in her demise. Two centuries later, she finds herself reborn in Lake Biwa in present-day Japan. As she adjusts to this unfamiliar realm, she discovers the complexities and challenges of a human existence.
