Tamil Actor Jagan Expresses Disappointment over Exclusion from 'Indian 2' Credits
Jagan, a renowned Tamil actor who has captivated audiences with his diverse roles over the years, has voiced his discontent over the omission of his name from the credits of the highly anticipated film 'Indian 2', starring Kamal Haasan. In a candid interview with Behindwoods, Jagan expressed his frustration at the lack of recognition for his involvement in the project.
Ulaganayakan Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, Rakul Preet, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and Vivek - all these names are prominently featured, but mine is conspicuously absent, lamented Jagan. I assumed I played a significant role, but even in their promotional materials, I'm nowhere to be found.
Delving deeper into the issue, Jagan questioned why Kamal Haasan, the film's lead actor, did not leverage his influence to ensure his inclusion in the promotional campaign. He also revealed the behind-the-scenes process that led to his casting in 'Indian 2'.
Initially, the makers had two actors in mind for my role, Jagan disclosed. However, it was only after the late director KV Anand intervened and spoke to Shankar on my behalf for nearly 30 minutes that I received a call from the team.
Intriguingly, Jagan mentioned that KV Anand never informed him about his conversation with Shankar. The actor went on to express his enduring popularity for his supporting role in 'Ayan', a 2009 film directed by KV Anand and starring Suriya in the lead.
'Ayan' revolves around Deva, a smuggler seeking revenge against an underworld don responsible for his best friend's demise. The film boasted an impressive ensemble cast, including Prabhu, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Akashdeep Saighal, and emerged as a box office triumph.
About 'Indian 2'
'Indian 2' is the long-awaited sequel to the cult classic 'Indian', released in 1996 and helmed by S Shankar. The upcoming film continues the story of Senapathy, a veteran freedom fighter who takes on the mantle of a vigilante to combat corruption.
Slated for release on July 12, 2024, 'Indian 2' features a stellar cast, including Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, Vivek, and Priya Bhavani Shankar, among others.
