Trigger Warning: Sexual Assault, Addiction, and Death Allegations

Nick Carter has maintained his innocence in the face of sexual assault allegations made by three women: Shannon Ruth, Melissa Schuman, and Ashley Repp. These allegations were featured in Investigation Discovery's documentary series, Fallen Idols: Aaron and Nick Carter.

Sexual Assault Lawsuits

Shannon Ruth alleges that Carter sexually assaulted her in 2001 when she was a minor. Carter's attorney has dismissed these claims as false.

Melissa Schuman, a former member of the girl group Dream, claims Carter sexually assaulted her in 2002. She publicly accused him in 2018 and filed a lawsuit in 2023.

Ashley Repp alleges that Carter sexually assaulted her multiple times in 2003, when she was 15 years old. She claims he provided her with alcohol and transmitted HPV to her.

Carter denies all allegations made by the three women.

Aaron Carter's Impact

The documentary series also examines the mental health struggles and strained relationship between Nick Carter and his late brother, Aaron. Aaron Carter drowned in a bathtub while under the influence of fentanyl in 2022. Before his death, he had publicly accused his brother of bullying women with power and money.

Nick Carter has acknowledged a chaotic upbringing and filed a restraining order against Aaron in 2019, alleging threatening behavior. The documentary suggests that Aaron Carter's online harassment after his public fallout with his brother may have contributed to his demise.

Substance Abuse and Family Tragedy

Both Nick and Aaron Carter have struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. Their sisters, Leslie and Bobbie Jean, also died from drug overdoses.
