Sharmin Segal Addresses Speculation of Preferential Treatment on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Sets

Sharmin Segal, the actress who made her Bollywood debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2019 film Malaal, has recently garnered attention for her performance in Bhansali's web series, Heeramandi.

In a recent interview, Segal refuted rumors that Bhansali extended preferential treatment to her on the sets of Heeramandi due to their family relationship (Bhansali is Segal's uncle).

I honestly don't believe he had any reason to treat me differently, Segal stated. We both share a passion for our craft, and I wouldn't have wanted him to give me special treatment.

Segal emphasized the importance of professionalism on set, regardless of personal connections.

When we're working, we're in a professional environment, she said. Our work is paramount, and I wanted to prove myself without any perceived favoritism. Sanjay is incredibly professional, and he knows how to maintain boundaries.

Segal also acknowledged Bhansali's meticulous approach to filmmaking.

He's very detail-oriented, and he expects the best from everyone involved, she explained. That's not just because I'm his niece. He's the same with everyone, and it's one of the things that makes him such a respected filmmaker.
