Five years after the dissolution of their relationship, Kehlani, known for her hit song Get Away, addressed the topic of YG's current romance with Saweetie. During an interview on Nessa On Air while promoting her new album CRASH, Kehlani delivered a thoughtful response.
When asked about Saweetie's comment on a photo of Kehlani shortly after her split from YG, Kehlani acknowledged her sexuality as a lesbian and affirmed her lack of concern for her ex-boyfriend's romantic pursuits. Having previously disclosed her lesbian identity in a humorous TikTok video and updated her Twitter bio to indicate her use of both she/her and they/them pronouns, Kehlani elaborated on her perspective.
Why would I care about my male [exes]? Kehlani inquired, expressing her indifference towards the actions of her former partners, regardless of their gender. I also don't care what any of my exes are doing. Male, female, anything.
The 29-year-old artist emphasized the importance of seeking happiness in relationships, regardless of one's gender. If a relationship no longer fulfills both partners, she believes it's healthier to part ways and pursue fulfillment elsewhere.
Even when I'm with someone, if we decide that we're not mutually happy, we really shouldn't be together and we should go be with people who make us happy, Kehlani asserted.
