Kalki 2898 AD Ticket Sales Surge Ahead of Release
A day before its highly anticipated release, Kalki 2898 AD has achieved a significant sales milestone. Directed by Nag Ashwin and starring an esteemed ensemble cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, the film has sold 100,000 tickets through leading national theater chains like PVRInox and Cinepolis for its opening day in Hindi.
With just a few hours remaining, the film is poised to sell an estimated 140,000-150,000 tickets in Hindi alone, a testament to the immense buzz and anticipation surrounding its release. It's noteworthy that advance ticket sales outside top-tier theater chains have also been robust.
Surge in Demand Compared to Previous Prabhas Film
Prabhas' previous release, Salaar, which hit theaters in December 2023, managed to sell 75,000-80,000 tickets in advance. However, Kalki 2898 AD is showing signs of potentially doubling those numbers, despite having a higher average ticket price.
The film is poised for an opening day of around Rs 25-28 crores nett, contingent on the reception of early show reviews.
Global Opening Prospects
According to industry projections, Kalki 2898 AD is set for a global opening of Rs 175 crores, including premieres. If word-of-mouth is favorable, it has the potential to reach Rs 500 crores worldwide within four days.
The film's pre-release business indicates that it must gross approximately Rs 750 crores, a target that should be achievable given the strong box office prospects for its opening weekend.
The Modern Avatar of a Hindu Deity
Kalki 2898 AD presents a contemporary portrayal of the Hindu deity Vishnu, said to have descended on Earth to confront evil forces. The film is slated to release in theaters on June 27, 2024, and is poised to reignite excitement within the exhibition industry, which has been longing for a major commercial success.
