Kerala Human Rights Commission Probes Painkili Hospital Shoot

The Kerala Human Rights Commission (KHRC) has demanded an explanation from actor Fahadh Faasil regarding the unauthorized hospital filming of his latest production, Painkili. The commission's attention was drawn to the fact that the emergency department of Angamaly Taluk Hospital was used for the shoot on Thursday at 9 pm without appropriate authorization, causing significant disruption to patients.

The KHRC has directed hospital authorities to provide an explanation within a week and has also sought responses from the Ernakulam district medical officer and the Angamaly Hospital superintendent.

Hospital Disruption During Painkili Filming

The commission noted that the emergency room lights were dimmed during the filming, while approximately 50 individuals, including actors, filled the room amidst ongoing patient care. Reports indicate that patients seeking emergency medical assistance faced obstacles due to the shoot, and some were even asked to remain silent by the crew.

Official Probe and Producer Defense

Kerala Health Minister Veena George has requested an explanation from the Health Department Director. Meanwhile, the Malayalam Cinema Producers Association has maintained that authorization was granted for the filming at Angamaly Taluk Hospital and that a fee of Rs 10,000 per day was paid for the two-day shoot. The association denies causing any patient disturbance.

'Painkili' Production Background

Painkili marks a reunion between Faasil and Jithu Madhavan, who previously collaborated on the successful Aavesham. The upcoming film stars Sajin Gopu, Faasil's sidekick from Aavesham, in the lead role, with Anaswara Rajan portraying the female lead.

Controversial Shoot Impacts Reputation

While Painkili has gained attention due to its Aavesham connection, the recent filming controversy has cast a shadow on its reputation. The KHRC investigation and the Health Minister's involvement underscore the seriousness of the allegations and may impact public perception of the film.
