Jodie Sweetin's Stand-up Journey and Bob Saget's Enduring Influence

Years after her iconic role as Stephanie Tanner in Full House, Jodie Sweetin has emerged as a stand-up comedian. On a recent episode of the Full House Rewind podcast, Sweetin shared how her onscreen father, Bob Saget, played a pivotal role in her comedy career.

Coincidentally, Sweetin's foray into stand-up comedy began around the time of Saget's passing in January 2021. She credits Saget and Dave Coulier, another Full House cast member, for giving her the confidence to explore her comedic side.

They gave me permission to be funny and silly, to use humor as a coping mechanism, Sweetin said, expressing gratitude for their support.

Having been recognized for her humor throughout her life, Sweetin found a seamless transition into stand-up. Saget and Coulier's encouragement empowered her to approach life's challenges with a lighthearted perspective.

Prior to Saget's passing, Sweetin reunited with Coulier and other Full House cast members in the Netflix spin-off Fuller House (2016-2020). On the podcast, she recalled a particular joke that earned her praise from both Saget and Coulier, instilling a sense of validation within the stand-up community.

Earlier this year, on the second anniversary of Saget's death, Sweetin shared a heartfelt Instagram post, reminiscing about their bond. She expressed her disbelief at his absence, lamenting that he was still missed dearly.

Sweetin's stand-up comedy journey serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of Bob Saget, who continues to inspire those who knew him best. His presence in her life empowered her to find joy in comedy, even amidst difficult times.
