In Netflix's A Family Affair, Zac Efron, portraying the fictional movie star Chris Cole, embarked on a mock Hot Ones interview that ultimately did not make it into the final cut. The interview, conducted by the show's host Sean Evans, was intended to showcase Cole's professional success within the film's narrative.

Richard LaGravenese, the film's director, explained that the mock Hot Ones segment was meticulously crafted to reflect Efron's real-life career highlights. The scene featured a montage of actual footage from Efron's career, interspersed with the staged interview.

However, despite the elaborate production and its intended significance within the film, LaGravenese revealed that time constraints ultimately led to its exclusion. It was too time-consuming and we couldn't put the whole thing in there, he said.

Despite its exclusion from the final cut, LaGravenese praised the quality of the mock interview, commending Efron and Evans for their engaging performances. It was really fun. We had four cameras, and the two of them just went at it, like over and over. It was really fun to film, Sean was delightful. He was really great to work with, LaGravenese remarked.

The mock Hot Ones interview served a specific purpose within the film's narrative, providing a glimpse into the fictional character's professional trajectory. However, its exclusion from the final cut did not diminish its significance in the overall production process, as it showcased the creative efforts behind the film and the collaborative spirit between Efron and Evans.
