"Modi Decries Congress's 'Religion-Based Quota,' Cites Ambedkar's Opposition
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vehemently criticized the Congress party's push for "religion-based quota," calling it a betrayal of the legacy of Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of India's Constitution.
Addressing a public gathering in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, PM Modi asserted that the Constitution explicitly forbids such reservations, a stance that Ambedkar himself firmly espoused. He accused the Congress of engaging in a "dangerous game" by introducing backdoor reservations for Muslim castes under the guise of OBC status, thereby depriving the OBC community of a significant portion of their quota. He further alleged that the Congress had made similar promises of religion-based reservations in their manifestos for the 2009 and 2014 elections.
Congress's Actions Undermining India, PM Modi Contends
PM Modi's criticism extended beyond the issue of reservations, as he accused the Congress of systematically weakening the nation. He cited the party's refusal to attend the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya as evidence of their disdain for India's cultural identity and their willingness to incite societal divisions.
Attack on Congress Over Inheritance Tax Proposal
In a separate but equally scathing attack, PM Modi denounced the Congress's proposal for an inheritance tax, a suggestion made by party leader Sam Pitroda. He characterized the tax as a thinly veiled attempt by the Congress to seize the hard-earned assets of Indian citizens and their children.
Congress's 'Loot Mantra'
PM Modi ridiculed the Congress, claiming that their modus operandi could be summed up as "Congress ki loot, zindage ke sath bhi loot aur zindagi ke baad bhi loot" (Congress's loot, during your life and even after your death). He accused the party of having no regard for Indian family values and a desire to plunder the nation's wealth."
