The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has stated that Prajwal Revanna, a Member of Parliament (MP) from Karnataka, did not seek political clearance for his recent trip to Germany. This announcement was made by MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal during a weekly press briefing.

Jaiswal clarified that the MEA neither received nor granted political clearance for Revanna's trip to Germany. Consequently, no visa note was issued. Diplomatic passport holders, such as Revanna, do not require a visa to enter Germany. The MEA also confirmed that it has not issued any visa notes for Revanna's travel to any other country.

Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, traveled to Frankfurt, Germany on April 26 amidst allegations of sexual abuse. The allegations surfaced after explicit videos, purportedly featuring Revanna, circulated on social media. Revanna has denied the authenticity of the videos, claiming they were manipulated. He has filed a complaint through his polling agent regarding the matter.

In response to the allegations, the Karnataka government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the sex scandal involving Revanna. On Thursday, the SIT issued a lookout notice against Revanna at all immigration points worldwide.

Revanna, who is seeking re-election from Hassan in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, was expected to appear before the SIT on Thursday. However, he filed a plea with a sessions court in Bengaluru, requesting anticipatory bail. The court's decision on his bail plea is still pending.
