In a significant resolution, Air India Express has swiftly reinstated all previously dismissed cabin crew members, a move that brings an end to the recent labor dispute. This decision was reached after a crucial meeting between the airline's management and the protesting crew, facilitated by the Chief Labour Commissioner on Thursday afternoon.

This development follows a tumultuous period for Air India Express, which had earlier terminated the services of 30 cabin crew members who had engaged in a coordinated mass sick leave without prior notice. This action had severely disrupted flight operations, leading to the cancellation of over 100 flights since Tuesday evening.

In an effort to resolve the situation, the airline had issued an ultimatum to the remaining crew members who had reported sick, demanding their return to duty by 4 pm on Thursday or face termination. However, this ultimatum was met with continued resistance from the protesting crew.

The mass sick leave had resulted in widespread disruption and inconvenience for passengers, with numerous flights facing delays or cancellations. Airports witnessed stranded passengers as Air India Express struggled to cope with the sudden shortage of cabin crew. The airline subsequently released a revised flight schedule and urged passengers to verify the status of their flights before proceeding to the airport.

On Thursday, Air India Express had announced the cancellation of 85 flights, impacting approximately 20% of its daily scheduled operations. To mitigate the disruption, the airline announced that it would be operating 283 flights with assistance from Air India on 20 routes.

The reinstatement of the dismissed cabin crew members brings relief to the airline and its passengers, as it restores stability to flight operations. This swift resolution demonstrates the commitment of Air India Express to addressing labor disputes and ensuring continued service for its customers.
