In an exclusive interview, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged a succession struggle within the BJP, claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is grooming Union Home Minister Amit Shah as his successor.
Kejriwal asserts that the BJP is experiencing an unseemly succession battle and that Modi has sidelined senior leaders to pave the way for Shah. He highlighted Shah's previous remarks in 2019 about retiring leaders over 75 years old, a policy that Modi applied after becoming Prime Minister in 2014.
According to Kejriwal, Modi's age-based retirement rule applies to both party and government roles. He alleges that this policy is intended to clear the path for Shah to take over as Prime Minister on September 17, 2025, when Modi turns 75.
Kejriwal's claims have been sparked by his recent release from jail on interim bail. He has consistently asserted that Modi's intention to appoint Shah as his successor is evident in the removal of senior BJP figures.
