On Sunday, June 23, 2024, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted a retest of the NEET-UG examination for 1,563 candidates. The retest was held at six centers across four states and a Union Territory: Meghalaya, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Chandigarh.

The retest was necessary after the NTA withdrew grace marks awarded to students who were compensated for lost time due to delays in the start of the examination at six centers during the initial exam.

Out of the 1,563 eligible candidates, 813 appeared for the retest, while 750 skipped the exam.

In Chandigarh, two students were scheduled to take the retest, but neither showed up at the exam center.

In Chhattisgarh, the exam was scheduled to be held at two centers with 602 candidates eligible for the retest. However, only 291 aspirants turned up for the exam.

Two exam centers in Haryana were designated for 494 candidates, with 287 students appearing for the exam.

In Meghalaya, 234 out of 464 eligible candidates took the test.

Gujarat held the retest for a single candidate.

The NTA had withdrawn the compensatory marks awarded to these candidates following an order from the Supreme Court.

A committee established by the NTA decided to cancel the scorecards of the 1,563 affected candidates and offered them the option of a retest.

The results of the retest will be announced before June 30, 2024.
