In a significant development in the liquor policy case, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was remanded to the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) custody for three days by a Delhi court on Wednesday. During the custody period, Kejriwal will be provided with certain concessions.
The court granted Kejriwal's request to retain his spectacles, consume prescribed medications, and access a copy of the Bhagavad Gita. He will also be permitted to consume home-cooked food and meet with his wife and relatives for an hour each day.
Notably, Kejriwal brought to the court's attention an oversight during his previous incarceration in a case filed by the Enforcement Directorate. He had neglected to include his belt in the list of essential items, causing him embarrassment at Tihar Jail. The court allowed Kejriwal to retrieve his belt.
Kejriwal will be produced before the court again on June 29. It is important to note that Kejriwal is currently detained in Tihar Jail in connection with a separate money laundering case. His formal arrest by the CBI in the liquor policy case occurred on Wednesday.
