On Thursday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) made its first arrests in the Bihar NEET-UG paper leak case, apprehending Manish Prakash and Ashutosh in Patna.
Prakash and Ashutosh allegedly aided candidates by arranging their lodging at a boys' hostel associated with the Learn Play School in Patna on May 4, the day preceding the NEET exam. Sources indicate that the individuals were provided with leaked papers and answer keys at this location.
The Learn Play School was reportedly booked for the night, and the leaked question paper was later discovered there, partially incinerated. The two accused were detained after being interrogated by CBI officials.
Following a request by protesting students, the Ministry of Education entrusted the central agency with the investigation, prompting the CBI to register an FIR on Sunday.
The CBI is currently investigating six cases pertaining to the NEET paper leak, including one each from Bihar, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, and three from Rajasthan.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the NEET-UG for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related programs in both public and private institutions across the country. This year, over 23 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, which was conducted at 4,750 centers in 571 cities, including 14 international locations.
