Prime Minister Modi Embarks on a Significant Trip to Russia and Austria
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Moscow on Monday for a two-day visit marked by crucial discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Notably, this visit signifies PM Modi's first trip to Russia in nearly five years.
Upon his arrival at Vnukovo-II International Airport, PM Modi received a warm welcome from First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Denis Manturov, who accorded him a guard of honor. In a gesture of respect, Manturov accompanied the Prime Minister to his hotel in the same vehicle, an unprecedented honor typically reserved for more senior officials.
Later, PM Modi met with the Indian community in Russia at his hotel. Following his Moscow visit, he will travel to Austria on July 9th and 10th, marking his maiden visit to the country.
Enhancing Diplomatic Ties
Prior to his departure, Prime Minister Modi expressed his anticipation for the upcoming visits to Russia and Austria, envisioning them as opportunities to strengthen India's ties with both nations.
Russia Visit: Focus on Strategic Partnership
Reflecting on India's longstanding friendship with Russia, PM Modi highlighted the substantial progress made in bilateral cooperation, spanning areas such as energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
He expressed eagerness to discuss regional and global issues with President Vladimir Putin and welcomed the platform to interact with the vibrant Indian community in Russia.
Bilateral Engagements and Discussions
Upon his arrival, President Putin will host a private dinner for PM Modi. Bilateral interactions will continue the following day with PM Modi engaging with the Indian diaspora and laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Kremlin.
The highlight of the visit will be restricted-level talks between the two leaders, followed by delegation-level discussions led by PM Modi and President Putin.
Economic Agenda
Deepening trade and economic cooperation is expected to be a central focus of the meeting between PM Modi and President Putin.
Austria Itinerary
PM Modi's visit to Austria will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 41 years, since Indira Gandhi's trip in 1983. During his stay, he will meet with top Austrian officials and seek to strengthen bilateral ties.
