In a tragic incident on Monday, four valiant army personnel made the ultimate sacrifice when terrorists ambushed an army convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district. Four other soldiers sustained injuries and were swiftly transported to a medical facility for urgent care.
The attack unfolded in the Machedi area of Billawar, where terrorists concealed on a hilltop unleashed a barrage of gunfire upon the army vehicle. Explosives were also hurled, causing significant damage.
In response, the army initiated a thorough search operation, leading to an intense encounter with the terrorists. According to sources, the terrorists are believed to have escaped the area.
This incident marks a grim escalation in terrorist activities within Jammu and Kashmir. Just a few weeks prior, on June 11 and 12, twin terror attacks struck Doda district. Six security personnel were injured on June 11 when terrorists targeted a joint check post at Chattargalla. The following day, a police officer was injured in a gunfight with terrorists at Kota top in the Gandoh area.
In light of these attacks, security forces have intensified their operations to combat terrorism. A cash reward of Rs 5 lakh each has been announced for four Pakistani terrorists believed to be operating in the region.
On June 26, a significant victory was achieved when three terrorists were killed during an encounter in a forest area of Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district. This encounter was part of an ongoing search and cordon operation involving the police, army, and Central Reserve Police Force.
